With six cookbooks to her credit and numerous awards, ICC’s Dean of Pastry Arts, Emily Luchetti has helped define what great pastry in America means. Currently Chief Pastry Officer of Big Night Restaurant Group, where she oversees pastry operations for five restaurants including The Cavalier and The Marlowe, Luchetti was formerly the Executive Pastry Chef for San Francisco’s Farallon and Waterbar. A former Chairperson of Women Chefs & Restaurateurs, she also served as a Trustee of the James Beard Foundation for 13 years, with five years as Chair.
She began her culinary career on the savory side of the kitchen at San Francisco’s legendary Stars restaurant before switching to the sweet side three years later. Luchetti was the pastry chef at Stars for seven years and also co-owned the retail bakery StarBake.
Her awards include 1998 Pastry Chef of the Year from San Francisco Focus Magazine, Women Chefs & Restaurateurs Golden Whisk Award, the Silver Spoon from Food Arts, San Francisco Chronicle’s 20 Visionary Chefs in the Bay Area, and 2004 Outstanding Pastry Chef from the James Beard Foundation. She is an inductee of the Culinary Pioneers of America and the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America. Luchetti is also founder of the social media movement #dessertworthy and a Chef Ambassador for Wellness in the Schools.
