4 hours hands-on baking ENROLL NOW

Our collaboration with Extremely Hungary, the yearlong festival showcasing contemporary Hungarian culture, continues as we welcome László Mihályi, Head Pastry Chef of Budapest’s historic restaurant Central Kavehaz and owner of the bakery Váci Desszertszalon in the city of Vác.

We in America know surprisingly little of Hungary’s illustrious history of pastry making. During the heyday of European coffeehouse culture, Budapest’s cafés rivaled the best that Vienna and Paris had to offer, serving elegant pastries and fancy layered tortes that live on in today’s bakeries and restaurants. At home, bakers work from a diverse repertoire of desserts that include rustic cakes, strudel, and sweet dumplings. In this hands-on class, you’ll be introduced to this great Hungarian pastry tradition—but with a twist. Inspired by the freshest ingredients and by flavors he discovered on travels in Norway, Lebanon, Morroco, and beyond, Chef László puts a modern spin on Hungarian classics. Explore the authentic flavors and techniques of the Hungarian pastry kitchen as intepreted by this worldclass pastry talent.
