ICC Leading the Charge to Create USA Pavilion

Partnerships announced at reception held by Secretary of State John Kerry.

PR Newswire: Friends of the USA Pavilion Milano 2015 announced several key partnerships during a reception hosted by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to mark the groundbreaking for the USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015.

“As a global leader in advancing food security, the United States feels we have to seize this opportunity to be involved in the 2015 World Expo in a significant way,” said Secretary Kerry during today’s reception, attended by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman, Ambassador David Thorne, Incoming Milan Consul General Philip Reeker, U.S. Special Representative for Global Partnerships Andrew O’Brien, U.S. Special Representative for Food Security Nancy Stetson, USA Pavilion partners and supporters, and other guests at the U.S. Department of State. “The Milan World Expo of 2015 is a chance for us to share with the world the work that American scientists, chefs, entrepreneurs, farmers, fishermen all continue to do day in and day out and hopefully help people to understand the ways in which we can make progress in the future.”

International Culinary Center was chosen by the U.S. State Department along with the James Beard Foundation to program and mange the USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015. ICC Founder and CEO Dorothy Cann Hamilton is the President of the USA Pavilion.

ICC and James Beard Foundation will be leading the charge with management and programming of the event including: 

MAIN PAVILION: The USA Pavilion structure pays homage to our rich agricultural history with an open design delimited by a vertical living wall that will be harvested daily.The flow leads visitors through a series of exhibitions and open gathering areas. 

FOOD TRUCK NATION: Our program will showcase the uniquely American food truck experience taking hold across the United States, a representation of American diversity, innovation and entrepreneurship.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMING: Fun, informational, educational and delicious programs, including outdoor evening entertainment, celebrations of regional culture, celebrity events,musical performances, tastings, and wellness activities will keep the pavilion abuzz day and night throughout the duration of the Expo.

SOCIAL AND DIGITAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE: A program extension, sponsor benefit, and tool for broad engagement that will use cutting-edge communications and engagement technology and strategy to expand the borders of the USA Pavilion to nearly 1 billion virtual visitors.

STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM: Student ambassadors, drawn from universities across America by The University of Southern California, will serve as national representatives for the United States.
