FAQs
How long is the commute from Roosevelt Island or Brooklyn Heights to The FCI?
Your commute is similar to that of most New Yorkers, approximately 35 minutes by subway. From Roosevelt Island, you should add another 4-5 minutes if the tramway is used instead of the subway.
May I view the apartments before moving into student housing?
At this time only tours of our EHS Clark Street Residence in Brooklyn can be scheduled.
May I move into student housing prior to my orientation?
Yes, you may, provided that there is availability. Generally, students are scheduled to move in the day before orientation.
When do I need to pay for housing?
Payment for housing is required on or before your move-in date. You are encouraged to complete your contract and payment requirements at least 15 days prior to your move-in date to avoid confusion. In general, if you are paying cash for housing, payments are made in three-month installments (though your contract is for the whole housing term). An alternate payment schedule can be set up with the Bursar, if necessary, following receipt of your housing contract.
How are roommates paired together?
We do not have any formal placement process. Students are paired together in an apartment based upon availability.
Is parking available on Roosevelt Island?
Parking is available for a charge. Please contact Motorgate Parking Garage at 212.832.4585 for information.
